I'd say it's funny that the Dems flipped when...
...a flailing Hillary Clinton needed a pre-election smear against her opponent in 2016, so she hired a foreign spy to fabricate a dossier against Trump using Russian sources and then laundered it through treasonous Clinton-friendlies in the US intel community and Fake News to create the Trump-Russia Collusion Fraud that persists to this day on the rekt left.
America has been forever after wrecked as a result, as the left half the country has completely lost its mind on both Trump and Russia, taking us step by step toward WWIII with the latter because they can't get out of the intellectual hole they dug for themselves in trying to take down Orange Man Bad.
As for you, I can't say. My view on post-Soviet Russia has always been that we should be realistic about them ("trust but verify" redux), but try to build a friendship to the extent possible, as they are natural allies, and I'd rather them be in our corner than China's. Clinton's effort at detente -- which wasn't really detente, as the Bush admin had fairly decent relations with Putin/Russia before the Obama admin came to be -- was the right move, and while Obama's mockery of Romney in that debate was childish and over-the-top, Obama was right in that Russia was not our biggest threat in 2012, nor is it today.
